What we think

We all know what South Beach is about: partying, nightclubs, plenty of sunshine. But sometimes the crowds can be, well, a bit much. The Setai is the antidote: Originally opened by the owner and principal designer of Amanresorts, it’s changed hands since, but the Asian-inspired design and attentive service remain the same. With only 120 rooms, the Setai draws a well-heeled international crowd of wealthy European families and New Yorkers down for the weekend. All rooms are suites and have lacquered furniture, teak flooring and Duxiana beds; those in the Ocean Tower have full kitchens and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the beach. The three pools—kept at 75, 85 and 95 degrees—are actual places to relax, not preen (nor will you have to dodge cannonballing kids). And when you’re ready for a cocktail and a spin around the dance floor, you’re a quick Uber ride to all the top spots.
