Tasteless, literally. Sometimes island getaways have decidedly meh food, but not here: all five restaurants on-site would wow even the harshest food critic.

What we think

It can be difficult to drop jaws in paradise. How can interior design turn heads when the backdrop is turquoise seas and white sand beaches too pretty to be believed? Yet somehow, the team behind One & Only Le Saint Geran has done it. Each room is redolent of a Nancy Meyers set on vacay, with soaring ceilings, marble-lined bathrooms, textural neutrals and private patios you won’t want to leave. But leave you shall, because the activities on offer here rival any mainland resorts: including a new 9-hole mini golf course, Henri Leconte Padel-designed tennis courts, and three heated pools—including an infinity version at the tippy top of the peninsula that looks like it blends into the sea beyond. Did we mention that the kid in all of us will also find gynormous outdoor games of Jenga, Chess and even Connect 4?

You’re traveling with the kids, and the resort pulls out all the riotously fun stops for its littlest guests, including the KidsOnly and OneTribe rec centers where DJ parties and barbecue nights are de rigueur.

The Moment

At dusk on the lagoon, you pinch yourself. This thatched-roof restaurant, Tapasake, feels as magical and mystical as Disneyland did in your salad days. But it’s deliciously real—and becomes riveting when you begin to stroll the stilted structure, where everything from Sushi to Tandoor theater-style prep stations become haute (edible) art.

Due east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean, a 15 minute helicopter transfer or 45-minute drive (in a chauffeured Range Rover, no less) from the local International Airport.
