Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech

Lush Oasis

What it is

A 134-room retreat fringed by manicured gardens, with a golf course by famed golf architect Cabell B. Robinson, 6 restaurants, and an airy, riad-inspired spa.

What it isn't

Just for grown ups. The kids club here is the largest in Morocco at more than 5,000 square feet, and fitted with a treehouse and cuddly wooden llamas and sheep.

What we think

The beauty really is in the details, here—as you’ll see the moment you spot their primary pool, which was designed to look like a palm tree-shrouded Mauritian lagoon, flanked by towering snow-capped mountain peaks. The rooms are from ‘standard issue,’ too. Take the starter category—Deluxe Room Garden View—which is a whopping 775 square feet (plus a terrace!), and adorned in ornate Moroccan flourishes, including locally crafted furniture and thick rugs. For even more spacious environs, book the 926-square-foot Junior Suite Atlas View, which has a spa-like marble bath, Berber rugs and a terrace large enough to host a cocktail party with a postcard-worthy view of the Atlas Mountains. While you’re there, be sure to ask for a fireside table at Al Aïn, where the menu includes regional faves like prawns with chermoula marinade and orange blossom sorbet.

You're here because

The golf course is a jaw-dropper, complete with a pro shop and a country club that dreams are made of (including its own semi-Olympic swimming pool).

The Moment

After your rose and aloe vera facial and pineapple mousseline body scrub in the spa, you’re not sure you could be more blissed out. And then you have a verbena ghassoul wrap—with herbs from the Atlas Mountains—in the gleaming hammam. Heaven, achieved.
