Raffles Grand Hotel D'Angkor
A restored 1932 respite
What it is
The ultra luxe grande dame of Angkor Wat, neighbors with the Royal Palace.
What it isn't
Boutique. Yet all 119 rooms are tailor-made to delight.
What we think
When they called it “Grand Hotel,” they weren’t joking: set on 15 lush acres of manicured French-style gardens (complete with more than 20,000 species of tropical plants), Raffles Grand Hotel D’Angkor retains every spacious ounce of Deco-era glitz, including a cage elevator in the black-and-white–tiled lobby and languidly spinning ceiling fans. Rooms are appropriately plush for a hotel that once hosted Jackie Kennedy—you’ll find silk bathrobes (crafted by hand), private balconies and those much-lauded 24-hour Raffles butlers to overindulge your whims. Ask for one of the 46 Landmark Rooms, in the oldest portion of the resort, for ultra-high ceilings and a four-post bed. And when the temperature pushes 90, dip into the 35-meter lap pool, modeled after centuries-old Royal Angkor baths.
You're here because
It’s the most classic stay in the area, and the plushest not directly in town.
The Moment
After attempting so many “cleanses,” you’ve found the chillaxing equivalent in the hotel’s spa: a detoxing body wrap of Cambodian herbs that are good enough to eat, including galangal, ginger, and cinnamon. You never thought smelling fragrant as a Christmas cookie could leave you so euphoric.
