The Landmark Mandarin Oriental

The Luxe Life

What it is

A 111-room retreat with three (three!) separate Michelin-starred restaurants, an 18-meter indoor pool, and a stunning spa that beautifies from the inside out.

What it isn't

Boring. Hotel staffers have curated a range of unexpected activities for guests, whether you want to attend a sake tasting with their sommelier or learn about whiskey with bartenders from cocktail bar sensation Please Don’t Tell.

What we think

Giving this hotel de facto landmark status with its name—Landmark—was a risky move, but it’s the perfect descriptor for Mandarin Oriental’s Hong Kong outpost. Here, everything is Exquisite, with a capital E. Guest rooms designed by Joyce Wang are clean lined yet warm, with bountiful luxurious touches: including Diptyque toiletries, custom furniture, walk-in wardrobes, 400 thread count bed linens, and rainforest showers. Superior Rooms start at an expansive 452 square feet; for even more room, we love the L900 Suites, which have separate living rooms and a dining table for four within their 893 square foot floor plans.

You're here because

Eating is your go-to activity when you travel; it may even be your raison d'être. So the fact that the hotel has three Michelin starred restaurant options, including three starred, Edo-style Sushi Shikon, is a major lure.

The Moment

Your jaw literally drops open when you first enter two Michelin starred Amber, arguably the best restaurant for French fare outside of France itself. The gold and blonde wood interiors by Tihany Design are nothing less than dazzling, but they’re nothing compared to the food—which is best paired with Dom Pérignon, no less.

MO Bar - all-day dining and cocktails, offering Asian delights and American classics

PDT - offering late night cocktails and snacks

Sushi Shikon - three Michelin star sushi restaurant

Kappo Rin - modern Japanese cuisine
