What it is
A tranquil paradise with all the luxury trimmings.
What it isn't
A family-oriented resort. This is a place for couples.
What we think
"Mandapa" is Sanskrit for the gateway of a temple, a fitting name for this resort, which operates under the exclusive Ritz-Carlton Reserve banner. Surrounded by rice paddies in the mystical rolling hills outside Ubud, the resort is a beautiful, mindful sanctuary. Scattered amongst the yoga pavilions and meditation areas, Mandapa has 60 discreet, butler-serviced suites and villas. The design captures the utter tranquility of the property, with separate living and sleeping areas and a large private garden with a full-size pool and outdoor shower, all impeccably decorated in traditional Balinese style. Everything at Mandapa—the cocoon-like private dining pods, the spa positioned by the rushing Ayung River, the surroundings of rice paddies and gentle rolling hills—suggests holistic renewal and a grounding reset, all while remaining fabulously luxurious.
You're here because
You want a quiet paradise to reflect, reset or just feel renewed by Ubud's intoxicating beauty.
Donning a traditional Balinese costume, you help prepare a canang—an offering of fruits, flowers and leaves in a palm-leaf basket, which you place at the resort's own temple. A sense of tranquility overcomes your spirit as you close your eyes and meditate.
