Six Senses Uluwatu, Bali

Sacred Respite

What it is

A spiritually-inspired resort perched on a jaw-dropping seafront clifftop.

What it isn't

Hands off. Every guest has a personal Guest Experience Manager to see to your every whim, including 24-hour in-villa room service.

What we think

When Six Senses—arguably among the most wellness-focused hotel brands on earth—built this resort on Pecatu, they knew exactly what they were doing. The area is near Pura Uluwatu, a Balinese sea temple built in the 11th century on these same teetering cliffs. When your neighbor is that transcendent, you must aim for the divine yourself. Enter: Six Senses Uluwatu’s temple-like architecture, which infuses even the most basic room option (and note: nothing is basic about it) with careful reverence. Sure, there are all the trappings of modern life—including AC, 49-inch interactive TVs, and unlimited Wifi—but there are also soaring ceilings, spa-like soaking tubs and al fresco verandas overlooking a vast expanse of Indian Ocean. In other words? Wellness, achieved.

You're here because

Six Senses is fiercely committed to sustainability, from purifying and bottling its own water on the premises to hiring a majority of local hosts (40% are from Pecatu itself). You’re green at home, so why give it up on vacation?

The Moment

After your ritual with a Balinese healer in the spa—where you started with a guided meditation, delved into sanity-saving acupressure, had a Balinese massage and finished with an Avocado body polish—you felt all six senses reborn anew.

Location

On the far western tip of Lesser Sunda Island, one of Indonesia’s 18,307 atolls. The resort is just a 45-minute drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport.
