Eco-Elegance
What it is
A new, ultra glamorous retreat of 90 artful overwater villas and 20 studios with a pristine private beach and citiphile must-haves, including three food trucks, a spa and an experiential art gallery.
What it isn't
Peckish. In addition to the aforementioned food trucks, you’ll find seven full-fledged restaurants, each one worthy of a Michelin star. (We love KOEN, which weaves together Nordic and Japanese fare.)
What we think
If Gwenyth Paltrow were reincarnated as a South Asian resort, it would be this one: it’s as sustainably and wellness minded as it is aesthetically beautiful (thanks to architecture by Brazil’s MK27). Take the One Bedroom Beach Pool Villa, flanked by exultant tropical gardens and its own 20-foot-long outdoor pool. The 2,583-square-foot hideaway has floor-to-ceiling glass walls (plus blackout blinds), a rain shower, and outdoor soaking tub. Rather wake up in a stilted villa over the glass-clear turquoise water you can dive into at your leisure? Book the One Bedroom Water Pool Villa, a sleek 1,830-square-foot space set over an unforgettable lagoon. While you’re here, spend as much time as possible in the spa, which feels like a contemplative zen garden (complete with lotus flower-dotted ponds) and is equipped with hammam beds, red light therapy; saunas; and floatation zones, all ready to restore your zapped energy.
You're here because
You hate to admit it, but you’re fully addicted to your technology, and like that each room here is equipped with a smart TV, tablet, fast WiFi, and even a Playstation or Xbox on request.
The Moment
You spent the morning swimming with stingrays, and afternoon chatting with the on-site nutritionist and physiotherapist. After all you’ve accomplished, there’s only one thing left to do on your to-do list: drink a note-perfect martini under a palm tree as the sun sets, with your feet in the sand.
