Splendor on Stilts
Covid-19 - What you should know
Skylark’s advisor team is here to support you. Travel is tricky right now and planning isn’t always straightforward, but our team of advisors is here to assist in every way we can.
What it is
The lone resort on Laamu Atoll, with thatched-roof over water villas set over a glimmering lagoon.
What it isn't
Neighboring anything. Guests are here to get away; your neighbors are the pack of dolphins frolicking in the sea beyond your private infinity pool.
What we think
You might think a resort that’s literally in the middle of nowhere (or everywhere, depending on how you look at it) would be lacking in in-room amenities. Not so Six Senses Laamu, where every urbanite's dearest wishes come true, from the Bose entertainments systems to the flat screen 37-inch TV to the iPod docking stations to the divine air-conditioning. But of course, you didn’t fly to an island paradise to veg. Six Senses delivers here too, with a seemingly bottomless activities list that includes snorkeling by parrotfish and green turtles in the on-site coral reef, surfing the Ying Yang wave, which breaks just off-shore, and picnicking (with a chilled bottle of wine) on your own private island. Guests with a sailing license can borrow the loaner catamaran and see where the wind takes them. Oh, and did we mention the spa’s outdoor treatment rooms are housed in what look like human-sized bird’s nests? Instagrammers, start your engines.
You're here because
You love to Scuba, and the hotel runs myriad adventures—including night dives and sunrise swims—in their unspoiled coral reef.
Sure, there’s a sunken pool bar and a two-story, thatched-roof restaurant lofted over turquoise water. But tonight, after a day in the sun, you feel like a kid again, so you’re beelining to the Ice & Chocolate Studio, which is exactly what it sounds like: an outdoor ice cream parlor with more than 40 flavors to choose from, including lychee and basil sorbet and burnt milk sea salt.
