Four Seasons Hotel Singapore
Sky High Luxury
What it is
An ultra-pampering retreat with gynormous rooms, a 20th floor rooftop pool, lauded spa and Michelin-starred restaurant.
What it isn't
Adults-only. Kid-oriented thrills include tot-sized robes and slippers, chocolate chip cookies and chicken nuggets on the Kids Poolside Menu, and video game rentals galore. (Perk: kids under four eat free).
What we think
Guest rooms in Singapore really don’t get any bigger than they do here, where even starter rooms have a 527-square-foot footprint. Guests tout the Asian-meets-European aesthetic, marble-lined bathrooms and the fact that amenities on offer make them feel thoroughly coddled, from the Lavazza coffee machine to the pillow menu to the Yukata robes for lounging. If you tire of making use of the al fresco pool and the 24-hour gym, there’s also four tennis courts, including two that are air-conditioned for prime play.
You're here because
The hotel has an air-conditioned walkway to Orchard Road—a.k.a. Singapore’s luxury shopping mecca, with Chanel, Ralph Lauren, and Yves St Laurent.
The Moment
You never put much stock in Michelin stars until you set foot in Jiang-Nan Chun, the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant inspired by the river villages of the Jiang Nan region. Here, dining amid ornately carved walls, you feel like you’re anywhere but a major world city, thanks to the fiercely authentic Cantonese dishes set before you. On the six course menu: lobster salad with vinegar pearls, wok-fried Australian wagyu, and, for dessert, Hokkaido milk pudding with bird’s nest and glutinous rice dumplings in strawberries and cream. You’ll be back.
