Bangkok, Thailand
Banyan Tree Bangkok
Iconic Tower
What it is
A skyscraping all-suite hotel with 11 bars and restaurants (including a legendary rooftop bar), a holistic Thai spa, and an outdoor pool fed by waterfalls.
What it isn't
Ho-hum. One of the restaurants is actually on a boat that sails at sunset on the Chao Phraya River, with a four course menu that includes passionfruit marinated duck breast; slow cooked short ribs; and Thai mango cake.
What we think
There are no bad rooms at Banyan Tree Bangkok, by design. The smallest room option here is a sprawling 474 square feet for an Oasis Retreat Twin, and so sumptuously designed you’ll feel like you’re in a penthouse thanks to the span of windows from floor to ceiling; plush window seat; coffee and tea station; zippy free wifi; and spa like bathroom with a soaking tub and even aromatherapy. Gwyneth-level wellness obsessives should book the Wellbeing Sanctuary King, a dazzling 517 square foot space that includes a nutrition platter, rest ritual each night, yoga mat and other wellness gear, plus steep discounts on spa treatments (bliss). To truly treat yourself, the Presidential Suite is a jaw-dropper—complete with an ultra-luxe atrium that looks like something out of the Thai version of Wall Street.
You're here because
Vertigo, the rooftop bar, feels like it’s floating over the city, thanks to 360 degree views and a glass floored portion nicknamed the Moon Walk. It’s deliciously sceney; the Lost Paradise cocktail is both clear blue and purple and tailor-made to create FOMO in your following.
The Moment
You’re more than a little jetlagged, which is why today’s spa treatment—a tropical rain mist shower, mit scrub and honey milk nourisher—is just what the doctor ordered.
