Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok
Artful and Modern
What it is
A serene 362-room retreat with a third floor infinity pool overlooking the cityscape, six beloved bars and restaurants, and an organic, placid spa.
What it isn't
Poorly serviced. Kimpton is famous for its freebies, including daily Morning Kick Start cuppas in the lobby, poolside wine and slushies at Social Hour, and more.
What we think
Bangkok is fabulous, but can feel overwhelming to the uninitiated, thanks to a population of more than 11 million. That’s one reason why the peaceful guest rooms at Kimpton Maa-Lai feel so good: they’re a respite from buzzing city streets. Each room option here is ginormous, beginning with the 517 square foot Essential Room, where you’ll find both a rain shower and soaking tub in the bath; custom Simmons mattress swaddled in 400 thread count linens; Nespresso machine; Christian Develter-designed robes; in-room yoga mat, and more (don’t miss the audubon illustrations in the closets by Bangkok artist Phannapast). The Junior Suite is worth a splurge for its floor to ceiling glass windows, 936 square foot floor plan complete with a fully separate living space, and even a menu of bath bombs for your best-ever steep in the soaking tub.
You're here because
The modernist outdoor pool is exactly the sort of thing that will erase your jetlag in a zip.
The Moment
You never thought you’d have one of the best Italian meals of your life in Bangkok, but that’s exactly what’s happening at Ms. Jigger. On your sleek marble table, your dish of wagyu beef tartare with quail egg and black truffle looks more than delicious—it looks like art.
