Koh Samui, Thailand
Napasai, A Belmond Hotel
Beachfront Bliss
What it is
An all-villa retreat fronting the sea, with a holistic spa tucked in exultant gardens, three airy restaurants that have perfected Thai fare, and bottomless activities.
What it isn't
Small and cramped. The resort sits on 43 sprawling acres; you’ll feel like you’ve entered your own private paradise.
What we think
When you imagine your dream Thai escape, we’re guessing this is it: a place where every villa looks the part, with soaring exposed beam ceilings, deep terrazzo soaking tubs and rainfall showers, and panoramas over the turquoise Gulf of Thailand from the balcony and room interiors themselves. Beginning room options are ginormous, starting at 667 square feet, and all are stocked with the things modern glitterati demand—including zippy free wifi, widescreen LCD TVs and DVD players, and (phew!) air conditioning. If you need even more room to roam, the 990 square foot One-Bedroom Pool Villa is worth a splurge, thanks to its separate living room with Thai-style sofas you’ll never want to get out of (unless it’s to take a dip in your own private pool, of course).
You're here because
It’s not just for honeymooners. Children are treated as honored guests, with their own menus in the restaurants, dedicated pool for wee ones, babysitting services and more.
The Moment
You’d be the first to admit you’ve had a little too much fun on this trip, treating yourself to the hotel’s many bucket list excursions—including kalamae (caramel) making in a nearby orchard, and sunset cruises with plenty of Moet & Chandon. Tonight, you’re going to toast to “too much fun” from the aptly named Beach Restaurant, where lanterns sway in the sunset breeze and your feet are tucked happily in the sand.
