Keemala
Tropical Bliss
What it is
A rainforest retreat with 38 thatched roof villas and cottages (some shaped like birds nests), a holistic spa, and three restaurants and bars—including a swim-up option.
What it isn't
Boring. Guests can try their hand at Thai cooking with the resort’s Culinary Academy, where local chefs teach you about the regional fare in the aptly named Enchanted Garden.
What we think
This is not your standard business hotel—far from it. At Keemala, every room option is a pinch-me moment, whether you book a birds nest-inspired Rung-Nok (Nest) which is lofted into the treetops with a “monsoon shower,” private pool, and sun deck or a Clay Pool Cottage fitted with earthen walls, a canopy bed, deep soaking tub, and—yes—private pool on the terrace. Whatever option you select here, you’ll be indulged; all begin at 1,350 square feet and are tricked out with nonalcoholic minibars, locally made custom toiletries, and doting service that includes turndown each evening and fresh tropical fruits throughout your stay.
You're here because
The resort is unlike any other place you’ve ever stayed (fitting, since it was inspired by ancient tribes of the Sea Silk Road).
The Moment
Even stepping foot in the spa, your shoulders drop. It’s inherently relaxing. But when your seaweed hot stone massage begins, you can’t remember even one thing that you’ve ever been stressed about. This is living.
