Secret Bay

Private Paradise

What it is

An all-villa rainforest retreat by the sea, with life-changing experiences, locavore dining and a treehouse spa.

What it isn't

On island time. Proof service here is exemplary? The resort is a Relais & Châteaux property.

What we think

For billionaires (and ascendant billionaires) who want to indulge, there may be no better destination than Secret Bay. For starters, their on-site activities list could drop even Beyoncé’s jaw. Want to go night snorkeling, alongside nocturnal fish—like basket stars? You got it. Have a hankering to explore a sea cave or have a private sunset concert? Be their guest. Villas here have an equally ultra-pampering feel, thanks to plunge pools, full kitchens, oceanfront terraces and soaring open-beam ceilings crafted from sustainable tropical woods like greenheart and red cedar. One of our favorites, the Zabuco Honeymoon Villa II, is perched on a cliff with an 180-degree overlook of the glass-clear Caribbean, and has plenty of hammocks at-the-ready for lazing the day away. While you’re here, be sure to do at least one yoga session lofted over the Cario River in the Bwa Mang Wellness Pavilion; it will restore your soul.

You're here because

You love a freebie, and rates here include bountiful breakfast baskets—complete with everything from housemade granola to local lemongrass tea—and unlimited use of Secret Bay’s flotilla of watercraft and other amenities (yep, they’ll loan you a GoPro).

The Moment

There is no menu at Zing Zing restaurant—which makes it feel every bit as fresh as the waves crashing on Tibay Beach below your table. Tonight, you’re tucking into mahi-mahi that was just pulled from the surf, with a side of yam pie. Heaven is indeed a place on earth.

Location

About an hour’s drive through lush, cinematic terrain from Douglas-Charles Airport. Cabrits National Park is just up the coast, and worth stopping at to explore the ruins of 18th century Fort Shirley.
