Uvita, Costa Rica
Kura Design Villas
Minimalist Marvel
What it is
An ultra glamorous 8-suite retreat in the Uvita rainforest, with a lofted lounge, oceanview spa, locavore restaurant and saltwater infinity pool overlooking the sea.
What it isn't
For kids. This is an adults-only retreat, and just as serene as you might hope.
What we think
This corner of Costa Rica reportedly didn’t have a sleek minimalist resort—until Kura came along. There are only eight suites here, and each one is a vision of modern luxury befitting any card-carrying urbanite, with glass-walled double rain showers, an infinity plunge pool on your private terrace, and double hammocks ideal for taking in the sunset with your cocktail of choice in hand. Floor to ceiling glass windows and gleaming exposed wood ceiling beams make each room feel like a bit of an art installation, but the expertly stocked minibar and wine fridge (plus thick cotton robes) will remind you you’re here to Live It Up, all caps.
You're here because
The resort champions sustainable and local dining; all the meat on the menu came from the region, and the seafood was just caught in nearby bays.
The Moment
You feel a little like a howler monkey in the spa, which sits high in the rainforest treetops—and after your local coffee scrub and cacao wrap, you’re feeling about as energetic as one. Reset, achieved.
Restaurants & Bars
Kura - Fresh, local seafood with a focus on pure, organic and responsibly sourced local produce
Location
A 60 minute drive from the Quepos Airstrip; staffers are all too happy to arrange private drivers in 4 x 4’s outfitted with gratis snacks and water bottles from anywhere in Costa Rica to the resort.
