Hôtel Barrière Lille
Sleek Yet Warm
What it is
A modern glass tower with 142 sumptuous rooms, five buzzing bars and restaurants, a spa and hammam, and a thronged 27,000 square foot casino on two floors.
What it isn't
Poorly serviced. Guests have access to porters, valets, 24-hour room service, laundry, and so much more…including butlers on demand.
What we think
It can sometimes be difficult for hoteliers to create warm, welcoming interiors in rooms with floor to ceiling glass walls—but here, Pierre-Yves Rochon has done it, and handily. Guest rooms are cozy if not fun, with their polka dotted carpets, exposed grain “wood” walls, custom furniture and supple leather upholstery. Even the 279 square foot Superior Room feels opulent enough for the casino’s high rollers, thanks to its panoramic skyline views, spa-like white bathrooms, soundproofing, and cloud soft king beds. If you’re here with company, the Junior Suite is totally worth it; it’s fitted with a plush sitting area, desk set before floor to ceiling windows and rounded bay windows, all within a ginormous 592 square feet.
You're here because
You’ll admit it: you love a casino. This one has multiple theme bars, 310 slot machines, and 20 games tables. How do you say “I won” in French?
The Moment
You’re not sure what is more addictive at tonight’s dinner at Les Hauts de Lille: the crispy langoustine tails and white asparagus on your plate, or the scene of locals chattering around you.
