Hotel Josef

Modernist Marvel

What it is

An artfully designed retreat with Mid century-inspired rooms, a French boulangerie, rooftop sauna, cocktail bar, and a lush hidden garden for guests.

What it isn't

Aesthetically ho-hum. The hotel was designed by Czech starchitect Eva Jiřičná, who created a steel and glass spiral staircase and bathrooms with glass walls and limestone finishes.

What we think

Even the “itty, bitty, pretty” room option here, as they put it—the Mini Rooms—are sumptuously designed with luxe amenities, including a Baleri Italia armchair, Kartell Ghost chair and Flos and Luceplan lighting within the 182 square foot floor plan (not to mention the Molton Brown cosmetics and robe and slippers you’ll find awaiting you in the bath). But if you’d rather sprawl out a bit, there’s no shortage of dreamy room possibilities, including the with floor Rooftop Lounge rooms that—yes—come with their own private balcony in addition to the nearly 400 square foot indoor floor plan. This being Prague, our favorite might be the Josef Castle View; floor to ceiling windows peer out on Prague Castle, a UNESCO heritage site erected in the 9th century that houses the Bohemian Crown Jewels.

You're here because

As a member of Design Hotels, the hotel is guaranteed to be a stunner—and one you’re all too delighted to share on your social media.

The Moment

At the hotel’s boulangerie, you decide you haven’t had a croissant this divine since your last trip to Paris. And no wonder: the bakery was created with a master French baker and sources its flour directly from France. It’s a buttery, flaky heaven.

Restaurants & Bars

The Bakery - French style bakery offering treats such as pain au chocolate, baguette, croissants, cakes and wholegrain breads

Josef Bar - hotel bar offering drinks, small dishes and pastries from The Bakery

Location
