d'Angleterre, Copenhagen
A Star Since 1755
What it is
Copenhagen’s best address, then and now.
What it isn't
Hands-off. Expect coddling, from the valet to the on-staff personal shoppers.
What we think
First opened in 1755, the D’Angleterre is the center of Copenhagen, both literally (right on busy Kongens Nytorv square) and figuratively: The hotel has hosted countless historic events and famous guests, and is where the whole city gathers to watch the lights blink on every Christmas. It reemerged after a massive renovation in 2013 with a look that effortlessly merges grand staircases, stately columns and period chandeliers with a light and stylish modernity. The 92 guest rooms—most of them suites—are tufted in pewter and lilac hues, and the spa combines the best of Nordic and Asian treatments (try the Icelandic lava stone massage). Marchand, the elegant restaurant, has earned a Michelin star, and there’s a gym complete with kinesis stations—which, trust us, you’ll want to utilize in this town of Viking gods.
You're here because
It’s reportedly the only hotel in downtown Copenhagen with a pool, and being steps from the 1913 Little Mermaid statue, you want to make a splash.
The Moment
It’s really not a holiday unless you’re popping champagne, and Balthazar—the first bar dedicated to bubbly in the entire country, stocking versions from 42 different wineries—is as effervescent as its subject. Pop!
Restaurants & Bars
Marchal - Is a Michelin-starred restaurant and one of the best restaurants in Copenhagen. The menu has French influence with new nordic ingredients. Designed as the indisputable destination for wining and dining in Copenhagen. Rich materials such as soft carpets, stone, wood, varnish and velour set a luxurious and stylish, yet relaxed interior to treat the eye in the breakfast restaurant, the wine room, the fine dining room serving lunch and dinner and the hotel bar, while catering for the different needs of the business man, the traveler, the lovers, the fashionista and the urbanite
The d'Angleterre also offers the contemporary champagne bar, Balthazar, serving more than 170 different champagnes, champagne cocktails and classic cocktails. The Balthazar Champagne Bar is of course first and foremost… well about champagne. We have an extensive selection by the bottle and quite one by the glass as well. Naturally everybody has their own favorite but sometimes it’s just fun to try something new. Or just something old in a different way. Year round Balthazar Champagne Bar presents campaigns on different champagnes exclusive "by the glass" or special tastings on selected champagnes. These campaigns are to give our guests unique possibilities to try some champagne that would rarely be available by the glass or to taste several champagnes in one tasting. We will tell you a little about each of them.
