What we think

When a hotel has been in the same family for five generations and counting, you know it’s good. This one combines the authentic feeling of a Chamonix chalet with every amenity the modern glitterati of today require. Guest rooms have age-old touches (yes, those are the original 1903 granite window frames in the 21-room main building), but are also chockablock with timely perks—including DVD players, walk-in showers, mini bars, and zippy internet access. Because rooms begin at 215 square feet for a Small Room (historic!), we do recommend booking a Prestige Room. They’re in the comparatively new farmhouse—constructed in 1998 from reclaimed chalet wood—and ginormous at 505 square feet, many with a fireplace and all with a terrace and jacuzzi bath.
