Le Strato Hotel

Storybook Chalets

What it is

A family-owned slopeside icon founded by the head of Rossignol in 1965, with 25 artful rooms, a Michelin-starred restaurant, and 10,000 square foot spa with all the trimmings.

What it isn't

Thirsty. A buzzing bar awaits with live music, afternoon tea, and exquisite cocktails (get the Fire in Your Hands), all ideal for après-ski.

What we think

Built right within the Courchevel 1850 ski area, Le Strato is iconic for good reason: its founder helmed Rossignol (arguably the world’s best ski brand) and created his own version of alpine paradise right here. Decades later, there may be no better post-ski respite on the slopes. Architecture is a fairytale sprung to life in classic alpine chalet style, but interiors are modern and warm. All 25 guest rooms are fitted with sumptuous faux fur blankets and throw pillows, exposed beams, moments of sculpture, custom sleek furniture and abundant drapery. The standard room begins at 301 square feet; we particularly love the 645 square foot Duplex room for its soaring exposed beam ceilings and a separate living room complete with a sofa upholstered in faux fur.

You're here because

The spa is everything one could want after a day on skis, including a hammam, heated pool, jacuzzi, two saunas, and high-tech treatments such as LED face masks.

The Moment

Tonight at the hotel’s primary restaurant, you find Chef Thomas Prod’homme has more than earned his Michelin star…he’s set it amid a twinkling galaxy. You’re not sure what’s more delicious: the trout smoked in wood with Jerusalem artichokes or the cocoa with pine.
