What it is
A garden-flanked retreat on the glimmering bay with a two Michelin-starred restaurant, iconic brunch, infinity pool, and tranquil spa with a Finnish sauna and steam room.
What it isn't
Artless. The hotel is awash in sculptural furniture, colorful bedding, and airy, glass walled architecture.
What we think
When famed French novelist Honoré de Balzac deemed Corsica “A French island basking in the Italian sun,” he couldn’t have been more accurate. That description suits Casadelmar perfectly. Where else but here lives la dolce vita and c’est la belle vie, all at once? Guest rooms are adorned in blonde woods and the types of amenities the glitterati j’adore, including iPod docking stations, DVD players, satellite TV, Nespresso machines, curated minibars, and (phew) individually controlled thermostats. It’s worth booking an Executive Double Room for its terrace that peers out on the water; the Superior Junior Suite, too, comes with a terrace, plus a separate living room ideal for cocktail hour.
You're here because
The two Michelin starred restaurant is helmed by Italian food mastermind Fabio Bragagnolo and champions the best of the region, down to the pork nustrale roasted with rosemary and fermented prunes and studded with Cervione hazelnuts.
After a bracing swim in the infinity pool, you hit the spa for a Corsican treatment—complete with sage and thyme grown right here, in the hotel’s own garden. Heaven really is a place on earth.
