Cheverny, France
Les Sources De Cheverny
Castle Bliss
What it is
An 18th-century stone château transformed into a beacon of modern wellness, with 49 sumptuous rooms, a show-stopping Caudalie spa, two locavore restaurants (including one with a Michelin star) and a wine bar.
What it isn't
Boring. Curated activities would satisfy any royal, and range from private tennis lessons to hot air balloon rides over the Loire Valley.
What we think
Even Marie Antoinette herself would have been wowed by Les Sources de Cheverny, which rolls out a silken red carpet for each and every guest. Every guest room is uniquely designed—stocked with hand-picked artwork and adorned in a color palette that reflects the surrounding landscape, whether flaxen or evergreen. Comfort reigns: the bed linens were made in France, and each room is fitted with air-conditioning, a minibar and zippy free WiFi (some even have a fireplace…just ask). One of the best suites here is The Perched Baron, which was inspired by local wood cabins and is fitted with its own al fresco Scandinavian hot tub. In this oenophile mecca, be sure to indulge in a visit or two to local vineyards; the hotel’s concierges are happy to arrange tours of François Chidaine riverside Chenin Blanc tasting cellar and so much more.
You're here because
The Caudalie spa is nothing less than exquisite: tucked within a deep forest, with wine-inspired treatments (such as crushed cabernet seed body scrubs). Bonus: it’s for guests 16 and up.
The Moment
Overlooking the gently waving grasses in the fields beyond the Michelin-starred Le Favori restaurant, you’re not surprised the chef takes nature as his muse. Your favorite dish so far? Seared Dublin Bay prawns with citrus nectar.
