What it isn't

Only pampering the adults. There are three kids’ clubs here, each tailored to specific ages: Babiwi for wee ones; Le Studio by Petit VIP for ages 4-12; and a Teens Club for the 13-17 year olds.

What we think

Elizabeth Taylor was here. That’s the feeling you get when you enter Le Royal Deauville, a legendary waterfront hotel where chandeliers still drip with crystals and sumptuous drapery flows as if pulled from Versailles itself. Even the “starter” room, at 269 square feet, feels decadent, with its tailored velvet furniture, striped walls and Juliet balcony overlooking the Norman rooftops. Our favorite guest room options here are the 376 square foot Prestige Sea View Rooms—with their silver leafed crown canopy beds and perch over the misty English Channel—and the Liz Taylor Junior Suite, where you’ll find touches of the starlet everywhere in the waterfront space (a fitting choice, as she was once besties with the hotel owner back in the day.)
