Deauville, France
Hotel Barriere Le Normandy Deauville
Seaside Fairytale
What it is
A 1912 timbered casino hotel inspired by Anglo-Norman cottages—with an ultra-luxe spa and hammam, pool in a veritable conservatory, and 16 (!) bars and restaurants.
What it isn't
Just for grown-ups. Their “Le Studio Petit VIP” program ensures unflappable fun to littles aged three months to 12 years.
What we think
If British country style and French beach chic had a love child, it would be Hotel Le Normandy—with an exterior that could be a set for Hansel & Gretel and interiors awash in toile de jouy. Superior Rooms are an intimate 279 square feet, but each is adorned as if for Marie Antoinette, with gleaming chandeliers that drip with crystals and perks like a robe, minibar, flatscreen, and so much more. To sprawl out even further, we recommend the Deluxe Suite; it has 592 square feet of room to roam with a fully separate living room and French doors that open to verdant garden views. While you’re here, be sure to borrow one of the beach cruisers from their fleet of loaner bikes and zip along the boardwalk with the wind in your hair.
You're here because
None other than Coco Chanel opened a pop-up shop here in 1913, with funds from her then-boy-toy, Boy Capel.
The Moment
After a dip in the pool, you’re ready to #treatyoself…and beeline straight for the hotel’s Spa Diane Barrière, where high-tech treatments juxtapose against century-old stained glass windows, sunlight streaming through. Today’s indulgence: a Biologique Recherche Skin Instant Lab that leaves you literally glowing.
Restaurants & Bars
La Belle Époque - Awaken your taste buds around dishes to share such as veal chop, truffle and ham pasta or the unmissable gourmet brunch.
Location
Just a block’s walk from the beach at Plage de Deauville, and a block from Casino Barrière Deauville.
