What it is
A 29-room retreat on the Left Bank that feels like the chicest ever pied-à-terre, with a Sisley spa and swimming pool.
What it isn't
Standard-issue. Designed by Michel Bonan, rooms look like they could be torn from the French edition of Architectural Digest, all gleaming surfaces, curated antiques and sumptuous fabrics.
What we think
J.K. Place’s first outpost beyond Italy bodes well for boundless future destinations to come. The entire property is like a fever dream of the well-heeled aesthete, from the subterranean swimming pool to Casa Tua, their Northern Italian restaurant with two other tony locations (Aspen and Miami Beach). They reportedly spent three years sourcing high-fashion antiques from Parisian flea markets, which now dot the grounds; a David Hicks mirrored chest here, Tom Ford reading lamps there. Every guest room is different, but you can count on one thing: Italian-made beds, heated slate bathroom floors, and details galore (yes, that’s a custom leather case holding the Dyson hair dryer).

The Moment
You never expected to seek out perfect Italian dishes in Paris, but here, they come to you. Tonight in the glass-enclosed courtyard, you’ve plowed through your ricotta gnudi with pine nuts and are starting to salivate over the memory of breakfast: a tower of buttery fig tarts and madeleines, an edible invocation of la belle vie.
