Le Dokhan's

A Tribute Portfolio Hotel

What it is

A stunning 45-room hideaway with cosseting (but never cloying) service.

What it isn't

Nouveau riche. If Marie Antoinette were alive today, she’d be more than delighted to hole up here with her papillon.

What we think

Paris has no shortage of head-turning hotels. Still, Le Dokhan’s will give you whiplash. Housed in a perfectly preserved 1910 Belle Epoque building, complete with wainscoting salvaged from a 17-century castle and parquet floors, all 45 rooms feel cinematic, down to the blue and white striped canopy beds. Wander the halls and you’ll spot works by Matisse and Picasso; an elevator hewn from antique Louis Vuitton monogrammed steamer trunks; and even a wood-burning fire that imbues the lobby with a primal scent. Stop in at the champagne bar for a glass of bubbly—though, fair warning, it will be difficult to pick which; the hotel keeps some 240 varieties on-hand, including Veuve Clicquot from 1996.

You're here because

You can’t imagine sleeping in a faceless, glamour-less hotel when in Paris. In Miami, sure. But in Paris? You have to steep yourself in history, or you’d rather not go.

The Moment

You audibly sigh—and start muttering sweet nothings in French, no less—when you first walk into your room. Swathed head to toe in blue and white striped and Greek key fabric, including the canopied bed, it looks like Brigitte Bardot reborn as an exquisite chambre.

Location

In the dreamy 16th arrondissement, just three blocks from Jardins du Trocadero and the Seine. Cross the river on the Pont d’lena and what do you suppose you’ll find? Oh, just the Eiffel Tower, in all her glory.
