What we think
Philippe Starck’s astonishing transformation of this 1928 hotel turned it into one of the most stylish spots in the city. The 149 rooms reflect Starck’s quirky, even surrealist touch, with contemporary art, unusual leather furniture—even acoustic guitars in some rooms. (Note, however, that at 390 square feet, standard units can be tight; consider upgrading to a suite if you require more space.) Indeed, this is a haven for the aesthetically inclined, with a lobby gallery featuring top contemporary French artists and a skillful art concierge well-versed on the big openings and cultural events. The spa is run by Clarins and has an enormous infinity pool. Families are made to feel welcome here, with a kid’s program that includes everything from movie screenings and pizza-making classes with a Michelin-star chef to treasure hunts through the Louvre.
You're here because
You love contemporary art and design, and crave a Paris hotel that’s luxurious, but not overly mannered.
The Moment
After casually mentioning your favorite artist to the concierge, you receive an email the next day about a new exhibition featuring her work.
