W Paris - Opéra
What it is
A fashion-forward, 91-room scene so cool that DJs spin in the restaurant.
What it isn't
Bare bones. The hotel retains its historic “only in Paris” Haussman architecture on the facade; interiors are maximalist and delightfully Instagrammy.
What we think
There is no shortage of chic hotels in Paris—the city that invented chic, merci beaucoup. And yet W Paris Opera ranks, thanks to spaces designed by the Rockwell Group (the same people behind The Shed in New York City). Every single room is fitted with floor-to-ceiling windows that peep out on the cityscape, gilt-meets-modernist furniture, illustrations by Emily Forgot and throw pillows brandishing portraits by Marcel van der Vlugt (bonus: Bliss bath products, iPod docking stations and 24-hour room service will pamper you properly). Book the aptly named Extreme Wow Suite for interiors Marie Antoinette would find quite homey.
You're here because
Every time you go to Paris you gain five pounds (through no fault of your own!). The hotel has a 24-hour, high-tech FIT gym with jaw-dropping views of Paris, which means you may actually use it.
The only thing better than a good hotel bar is a great one, and Brûlé is a great one. Stocked with Parisians, it’s lined in art by Fafi, Nasty and Ludo (yes, those are their real names) and a heavenly place to imbibe...because your sumtuous bed is mere seconds away. “Waiter, more champagne? Merci.”
In the 9th arrondissement, you’re a few blocks from Place Vendome, FlyView and just 1,500 meters from Rue du Faubourg St Honore.
