Chateau De Berne
Storybook Retreat
What it is
A fairytale Provençal hotel with 34 cinematic rooms and a villa; a Michelin starred restaurant and cooking school; 8600 square foot spa; pristine pools; and so much more.
What it isn't
Cramped. The hotel presides over its own 370 acre vineyard within 1,272-acre grounds of untouched wilderness.
What we think
If the Provence of your dreams includes deliciously canopied beds; rolling vineyards; cinematic restaurants; and experiences that range from behind the scenes wine cellar tours to e-bike rides through the verdant countryside, the fanciful Château de Berne is the spot to live it in real life. Even the most “basic” guest room here is anything but, with its carved headboard, gold gilt frames, a queen bed adorned in sumptuous bedding, and 322 square foot floor plan (ask for one with a view of the vines). For a more sprawling stay, the 430 square foot suites include living areas and often a private balcony; those with kids in tow may appreciate the stone walled Bastide Vanado villa, which sits on nearly three acres and sleeps 10 within its 3,360 square foot interiors. Whichever room you pick, you’ll be indulged with abundant breakfasts, zippy free wifi, and unfettered spa access. How do you say “Aaaah” in French?
You're here because
The hotel is a member of the highly coveted Relais & Châteaux network, which—loosely translated—means it’s among the best hotels on the planet.
The Moment
You spent your afternoon lounging by the pool and treating yourself at the spa, fringed by olive groves. The highlight: a Balinese facial that uses tropical flower extracts…and knowing that your dinner tonight is Michelin-starred. Bliss.
