Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa
An Oetker Collection Hotel
What it is
A newly-revamped spa hotel in the foothills of the Black Forest.
What it isn't
Filled with Twittering club kids from Berlin. People come here to relax and revive, not to blow off steam.
What we think
Health-obsessives have been traveling to “take the waters” in this thermal spring spa town since the Roman era. Enter the 104-room ‘Brenners’, which has soothed heads of state (Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, King Edward VII) and other powerhouses (from Bono to Victoria Beckham) since it opened its gilded doors in 1872. In 2015, their adjacent medical care manse, the Villa Stephanie, opened, where 12 calming rooms pull the plug on workaholics: a digital detox switch (and copper-plates within the walls) render wifi and electricity blissfully useless.
You're here because
Your email inbox pings every thirty seconds, and you need a true break. What worked for Chancellor Merkel might just work for you.
As the sun streams through the trees and dapples the light at your table, you tuck into a saddle of venison, with juniper berries and seared chanterelles—and can see it’s no wonder Paul Stradner won two Michelin stars for this place.
Alongside the leafy, crocus-and-daffodil-lined Lichtentaler Allee.
