Mitte, Berlin
Hotel de Rome
A Rocco Forte Hotel
What it is
A contemporary hotel with a grade A location on the Bebelplatz.
What it isn't
A quaint boutique hotel with classic style.
What we think
Sitting in what was once a bank, this is one of the more unique hotels in Berlin. Despite the building’s historic background, the hotel has a contemporary design that makes nods to the 1920s and 30s. As you’d expect from a bank, the public spaces have soaring ceilings and rich marble colonnades. The best aspect, however, is likely the Spa de Rome, which is actually housed in the former vault and contains a 60-foot lap pool. The 146 rooms and suites also have a modern design, with many boasting views of the Bebelplatz or St. Hedwig’s Cathedral. The hotel is also known for having a top restaurant and bar. In particular, the rooftop bar has a cool scene that’s worth spending some time at regardless of if you stay at the hotel or not.
