The Dolli at Acropolis
A Jaw Dropper
What it is
A 1925 neoclassical mansion transformed into an ultra chic 46-room hotel with a library, fifth floor restaurant overlooking the ruins, outdoor pool and gleaming, airy interiors.
What it isn't
Artless. In fact, the hotel is akin to a museum: you’ll find pieces by everyone from Claude Lalanne to Pablo Picasso hung on the walls in the Dolli Lounge.
What we think
Athens does not have the same reputation as a global style mecca as, say, Paris or London. But that all changes the moment you walk into The Dolli. The hotel manages to be both immaculate, dazzlingly hip, and classically elegant at the same time: a tall order, in any part of the world. The 269 square foot Bijou Room is equipped with all you need for a grand stay, including a rain shower in the marble-lined bathroom, Deco-inspired custom furniture, and a bar. For postcard-worthy Acropolis views, a marble tub, and French doors you can fling open to a Juliet balcony, book the Acropolis Luxury Junior Suite. You won’t want to leave.
You're here because
You like to stay in a hotel that could have its own feature in Architectural Digest when you’re on vacay, and this more than fits the bill, with its Calder mobiles and oil paintings in gleaming gilt frames.
The Moment
From your roof top table at Dolli’s Restaurant, you can take in both the sunset and a panorama of millenia-old ruins…and yet you can’t take your eyes off your dinner. The linguine with lobster and black truffle is everything you ever could have wanted, and then some.
