Poseidonion Grand Hotel

Legend of Legends

What it is

A 1914 seafront grande dame that’s played host to more than a century of boldfaced names.

What it isn't

Stodgy. The Belle Epoque property recently emerged from a five year restoration that has it looking and feeling brand new (within the aura of history, natch).

What we think

There are no cars allowed on the island of Spetses—all the better for unplugged relaxation. We’d wager that no hotel on the nearly 9-square-mile atoll is more chillaxed than this one, where guests can make use of everything from Cine Titania (their newly reborn al fresco cinema originally erected in the 1960s) to the entirely organic Asian Spa, where facilities include a steam room Aphrodite herself would adore. If you’re partial to storied splendor, ask to stay in the Historic Wing; the Sea View rooms feature rounded windows, private balconies and tufted headboards that nod to timeless elegance.

You're here because

You hate to let yourself “go” on vacay, and the property has a grooming wizard at the helm of Poseidonia Hairworks: Loizos Ioannou. Feel like a keratin treatment? Organic manicure? Eyelash extensions a la Marilyn Monroe? Loizos is your man.

The Moment

There’s brunch, and then there’s Greek brunch—Poseidonion style. Here, Sundays are “short holidays,” and meant to be savored. You’re not sure if it’s the champagne talking, but you’ve never had a better start to the day, thanks to this locally sourced menu. Smoked salmon eggs with Domokou cheese, octopus mac n cheese (with feta, natch), and kaimaki ice cream with sour cherry preserve….breakfast back home will never be the same.

Restaurants & Bars
