Mykonos, Greece
Mykonos Blu Grecotel Boutique Resort
Luxury perch above Psarou Beach
What it is
A glitzy luxury hotel made up of gleaming bungalows.
What it isn't
An isolated island retreat. Nammos, the uber-sceney restaurant and club, is just up the beach.
What we think
From its cliffside perch, the Mykonos Blu faces south, overlooking sandy Psarou Beach and the sparkling Aegean. It's about a mile away from the center of town—but only a short walk to Nammos, the jet-setter beach club/nightclub/restaurant that's arguably the island's true nucleus. Nonetheless, the Blu sets a peaceful and luxurious atmosphere: Whitewashed buildings scattered across the bluff contain 111 bungalows, suites and villas, many of them with private pools and bougainvillea-strung balconies. Floor plans are open, seating areas are molded right into the white plaster walls, and gauzy white curtains float around the bed and windows—in other words, Mykonos style at its sexiest and most pristine.
You're here because
You want to stay in a classic white-cube Mykonos hotel, but with proximity to the scene and a healthy dose of pampering.
The Moment
Half-submerged in the cliffside infinity pool, its blue water just a shade lighter than the sea below, you feel a warm breeze on your face and hear a soft thump-thump-thump carried up from the beach club below.
