What it is

Co-owned by members of U2, this 1852 grande dame has a modern beat—with 58 revamped guest rooms, a Michlelin-starred chef, rooftop speakeasy and more.

What it isn't

Lacking a view. The property overlooks the River Liffey, a former Viking thoroughfare.

What we think

Bono may still not have found what he’s looking for…unless it comes to hotels. Because as a hotelier, he’s created a beloved respite from Dublin’s charming Temple Bar district. If you have yet to earn your Grammy, you may prefer the starter room category—a “Snug” room, where a single bed is flanked by a tufted wraparound headboard and paneled walls (and includes a cheeky Munchie Shelf for late-night snack raids). For a more spacious experience befitting a global superstar, we love the Family Room—complete with a Smeg fridge and Marshall amp—or even the Penthouse Suite, which has a 2,000-square-foot floor plan, baby grand piano, balcony and kitchenette. Whichever room you choose, you’ll be treated to zippy gratis WiFi, Irish toiletries from Paul Costello, and tea and coffee-making setups to keep your next jam on-point.

You're here because

There are four restaurants on the premises, and you’re pretty sure you’ll see Bono at one during your stay.

The Moment

Truth: Ireland is not world-famous for its food. But it should be, at least if your meal at the hotel’s Cleaver East, the restaurant by Michelin-starred Chef Oliver Dunne, has anything to say about it. You might never forget this poached salmon with nori mayo and blackened cucumber—it’s that good.

Restaurants & Bars

Cleaver East - Offers the finest Irish and European cuisine

Bison BBQ & Bar - Ireland’s first authentic Texan BBQ and Whiskey Bar

The Liquor Rooms - Dublin’s best cocktail experience

Octagon Bar - A wonderful retreat on a cold day

The Study - Enjoy a freshly brewed coffee over the morning papers or a casual working lunch

Location

Central Dublin in the Temple Bar neighborhood, right on the River Liffey. The Irish Whiskey Museum is five blocks away and a must-visit if you love a tipple.
