Romeo Hotel

Artful Idyll

What it is

A sleek 79-room hideaway designed by Japanese starchitects, with a Michelin-starred restaurant and Mount Vesuvius views.

What it isn't

Soulless. The interiors teem with a carefully curated art collection, including works by Marc Chagall, Francesco Clemente, and a hulking cedar Kashiwado chair designed for a sumo wrestler in 1961 by Kenmoch-Kashiwado.

What we think

Surprise and delight are the orders of the day at Romeo Hotel, where the only thing guests can expect is the unexpected. Take the modernist guest rooms designed by Japan-based firm Kenzo Tange & Associates, where finishes are nothing short of exquisite: crystal, steel, and high-gloss macassar ebony. It’s well worth booking a Wellness Room, which are fitted with steam fireplaces and the self-pampering amenities you might find in any luxury spa: a Turkish bath, Teuco whirlpool, infrared sauna and “emotional shower,” which combines water jets delivered at different frequencies alongside light color therapy. Of course, you won’t want to miss the hotel’s actual spa as well—an expansive 10,000 square foot retreat within the retreat, where treatments include oxygenating facials and total body waxing.

You're here because

You’re an unabashed oenophile, and the Romeo wine cellar is a gem, 1000-labels deep.

The Moment

You pride yourself on stopping by every Michelin-starred restaurant you can find in any given destination. Of course, the thrill becomes a stratospheric delight when it’s in your own hotel, within stumbling distance of your own downy bed. On the top, 10th-floor of the Romeo, Il Comandante Restaurant has a heron’s-eye view of the skyline and Mount Vesuvius, not to mention a tasting menu named “The Depth of Being” that has you conjuring poetry from your outdoor table, under the glow of the full moon and fully living the depth of your being, indeed.

Restaurants & Bars

Il Comandante Restaurant - Only serving dinner, the Michelin-starred dining option serves creative and refined gourmet cuisine by Executive Chef Salvatore Bianco on the top floor of the Romeo

Beluga Bistrot & Terrace - Located on the 9th floor, this is an all-day dining restaurant, flavorful and authentically Neapolitan, with panoramic tables indoor as well as “al fresco” seating

Location

In view of famously volcanic Mount Vesuvius, just a few blocks from the Gulf of Naples. Don’t leave the area without a trip to Castel Nuovo, built in 1279 and now a museum brimming with Baroque-era paintings.
