Lefay Resort & Spa Dolomiti

Alpine Splendor

What it is

A modernist Italian ski lodge that lives la dolce vita in myriad ways, from the 53,000 square foot spa to the unmissable restaurants and rooftop lounge.

What it isn't

Just for outdoorsy exploits. There’s a fairytale-feeling reading room tucked under the uppermost eaves and overlooking the adjacent forest.

What we think

Minimalists can find it hard to find a ski chalet that’s streamlined and ineffably chic in a world of Swiss Miss options. Look no further. At Lefay, every guest room looks like a James Bond scene sprung to life—lined in blonde Italian oak wood, with glass walls that overlook a truly jaw-dropping panorama of peaks. Book a 613-square-foot Prestige or Deluxe Junior Suite for a wall-mounted fireplace, deep soaking tub and cozy separate living area for chatting about the day’s adventures. Or the Spa Suite, which looks tailor-made for Kardashian’s on the lam with its black marble whirlpool and private sauna. While you’re here, be sure to stop in at the ginormous spa to take a dip in the salt-water pool, steep in the salt grotto, and indulge in treatments like a hot mud massage or chestnut flower body scrub with alpine salt “butter.”

You're here because

You’re attempting to be as eco-friendly as possible, and the property is a certified ClimaHotel devoted to using renewable energy and other green approaches.

The Moment

When you heard that one of the hotel’s beloved restaurants, Grual, was inspired by the surrounding woodlands, your heart skipped a beat. On tonight’s dreamy 12-course tasting menu by Executive Chef Matteo Maenza? Red turnip dumplings with alpine ricotta; mountain potatoes with herb pesto; and saddle of roe deer with crunchy polenta. Swoon.

Restaurants & Bars

Grual - serving organic dishes for buffet breakfast and à la carte dinner

Dolomia Restaurant - gastronomic experience that brings together traditional recipes and contemporary flavours

Lounge Bar - offering cocktails and international liqueurs

Location

Within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites, in the storied ski mecca of Madonna di Campiglio. Just a few miles up the road: Parco Naturale Adamello Brenta, the Italian answer to Glacier National Park, where brown bears roam and glass-clear lakes await.
