Armani Hotel Milano

Armani’s designer digs in his hometown

What it is

A streamlined designer boutique in Milan’s couture district.

What it isn't

A family (or budget) friendly hotel that focuses on the city’s historic charm.

What we think

In his home city, Giorgio Armani’s hotel sits inside a blocky 1930s monument on via Manzoni. Inside the minimalist boutique, Armani’s design aesthetic as well as his famous perfectionism are front and center. Much like his clothing, the hotel is crisp, sparingly detailed, perfectly tailored and made of materials sourced from the higher reaches of the tactile spectrum. The 95 rooms (roughly a third of them suites) and public spaces eschew the expected sumptuous details that so many hotels in old world cities go for. Instead of Baroque gilt, the Armani Hotel follows a muted color scheme that doesn’t stray more than a shade or two from slate grey. Accenting colors stick to a collection of sand tones and the dark gleam of lacquered wood and black marble. “Lifestyle managers” are assigned to every guest for 24/7 assistance and wish-fulfilling; everything is taken care of before, during and after your stay. While the original facade wasn’t altered for the hotel, two glass-walled floors were added to the roof, making what is conversationally referred to as its “glass hat.” Inside the hat, guests are welcomed to take in the vast and unexpected panorama from above the city’s roofline. From up here, guests can see the soaring marble spires of the Duomo and on cloudless days, the Alps. The 7th floor holds Armani/Ristorante and Armani/Lounge where traditional Italian dishes are served with an elegance that matches the building. On the eighth floor, guests are invited to partake in the immaculate services of the Japanese spa and pool.

You're here because

If you ever wanted to walk through the stylish pages of Armani Casa's lookbook, this is the place. It’s the combination of haute couture living and uncompromising attention and dedication to guest’s pleasure: welcome to Armani’s home.

The Moment

Up on the glass-walled seventh-floor, the back-lit onyx bar glows under the dramatic, double-height ceiling. A sprinkling of fashionistas and elegant locals dot the bar. While you sip on an Aperol Spritz before dinner, you look out through the faultless panes of glass and take in the 360-degree views of the city.
