Galleria Vik Milano
Iconic Stay
What it is
Tucked within the legendary Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, with art-stocked interiors (yes, that’s a Rodin), a rooftop pizza place and a restaurant in an art gallery.
What it isn't
Phoning it in. Each guest room was individually adorned by artists from Italy to Uruguay; you may find yours awash in floor to ceiling flowers or painted cobalt blue.
What we think
Jaws dropped in 1877, when Giuseppe Mengoni’s octagonal Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II opened—with its soaring iron and glass rotunda and arcades. When your hotel is housed within such a famously beautiful place, you have to make it as exquisite as possible, and Galleria Vik Milano was up to the task. All guest rooms here were singularly designed to be stunners, in different ways; our favorite might be the Palace Room with sky-high ceilings and French doors that open onto the Galleria. If you’re looking for a splurge you can’t do any better than the Vik Presidential Suite—from its furry, cloud-like sofas, you can peer out directly on an arched window that overlooks one of the barrel vaulted glass arcades for one of the most interesting depths of field ever seen from a hotel room.
You're here because
There are no TVs here, and you need a major break from screen time.
The Moment
You’ve decided the only thing better than a rooftop bar is one that’s famous for its pizza—and named for its resident cats. Tonight at I Dodici Gatti, you’ll have the crispy margherita pizza drizzled with Evoo…even more delicious as the sun sets.
