What We Think
This is a unique property spread across two beautiful locations. The Hotel Splendido sits in the hillside overlooking Portofino and the Italian Riviera (these are some of the most beautiful views in Italy). On the other hand, Splendido Mare sits down by the water in the heart of the lively village of Portofino. Though most of the facilities are up at the Hotel Splendido, guests at either building will enjoy access to all facilities, including a saltwater pool, tennis court and a lively bar that can become quite a scene in the late evenings. The Hotel Splendido is the more luxurious and intimate of the two properties, with the price tag to match. The 65 or so hill rooms are elegant, decorated in soft pastel hues with olive-tree wood floors and spacious, modern bathrooms. The 22 rooms at Splendido Mare have a more Mediterranean feel with views of the Mediterranean or the surrounding piazzetta. These are not as upscale or private as the main property, but are also less expensive for those traveling on a budget.
