Lecce, Italy
La Fiermontina
Artful Elegance
What it is
A 16th-century estate reborn as a pampering 19 suite hotel with a garden-fringed outdoor pool, locavore restaurant in a citrus grove, and sculpture garden.
What it isn't
Poorly serviced. Expect no-holds-barred perks: over-the-top breakfasts, daily housekeeping, Lavazza coffee makers…the list goes on.
What we think
You may find yourself singing an Italian opera when you first step foot into your room at La Fiermontina, because they’re all as grand as La Traviata. Even the 320 square foot Deluxe Room has truly earned the moniker “deluxe,” with its exposed beams overhead, towel warmer, Lavazza coffee machine, and terrace (complete with a seating area for aperitivo hour). Our favorite rooms here, though, are the ones that feature fairytale vaulted stone ceilings—like the 550 square foot Antonia Fiermonte Suite, where have an ancient star-pinnacled ceiling plus an original stone fireplace, deep soaking tub, and a terrace that peers out on the exultant gardens. Did we mention the touchpad tablets that allow you to make all service requests at the push of a (touch) button? La dolce vita, indeed.
You're here because
Guest experiences include candlelit yoga sessions and walking tours through the jaw-dropping Lecce streets.
The Moment
After a swim in the pool, your jet lag is almost gone. One more thing will undoubtedly cure you: an Ayurvedic massage in the hotel’s aptly named “Relaxarium.” Aaaah.
