What we think
The Aldrovandi is a 19th-century villa turned luxury hotel at the northern edge of the Villa Borghese Gardens. Its slightly out-of-the-way location allows it to revel in space with large, light-filled rooms, magnificent gardens and an outdoor heated pool. And there are plenty of sights within the park and a leafy stroll beyond: the Galleria Borghese, the Piazza del Popolo, Via del Corso. Plan for a 20-minute taxi ride to the Colosseum. Guests here can also spend an afternoon at Spa Mytha’s steam baths or relax with Biologique Recherche treatments. The Assaje restaurant is a Michelin-starred highlight with delightful alfresco tables. The hotel’s crown jewel is the Royal Suite on the penthouse floor, decked out in Baroque plasterwork and gilded cornicing, elegant drapes and crystal chandeliers—perfect for anyone seeking an out-of-the-way slice of la dolce vita.
You're here because
You’re a repeat Rome visitor less intent on spending hours agape at every block of travertine and candle-lit fresco than in relaxing, strolling through the gardens and enjoying a slice of Roman leisure.
The Colosseum and Basilica di San Pietro were enough walking for the day. The rest of the family is out at the Foro Traiano, so nobody’s going to know if you indulge in a little me-time at the spa.
