Babuino 181 Rome Luxury Suites
Boutique bolthole
What it is
A small, superbly-located boutique with a residential vibe.
What it isn't
A place you’ll spend all day at.
What we think
Nestled between the Caravaggios of Piazza del Popolo and the high-end brands of Piazza di Spagna lies this jewelbox of a boutique. The 18-roomer is designed to be as homey as possible, and in this it succeeds. Slick, comfortable interiors greet tired guests after a day’s touring—plush carpets, soft club chairs, a king-sized bed elevated on a felt-covered platform and more pillows than an Upper East Side housewife. The coup de grace is the rooftop terrace, set amidst the Eternal City’s thousand domes, where you’ll start the day with a strong macchiato and cornetto overlooking Piazza del Popolo, and end it with a nightcap facing the Spanish Steps.
You're here because
Is there any other way to bookend a day grand touring than with a cool drink atop a stylish rooftop? Let’s not be silly.
The Moment
Low chatter from the streets below drift upwards as you playfully stir the pitted olive in your empty martini. You’d flag down the bartender for another, but you can’t stop looking at Piazza del Popolo’s lit-up obelisk, brought to Rome by Augustus 2,000 years ago. What’s the rush?
Restaurants & Bars
