What it is

Casting light on a new area on the eternal city’s most coveted address since 1894.

What it isn't

An exclusive top-tier luxury property, but private enough not to desperately see and be seen.

What we think

A Roman landmark, the hotel was built in 1894 by none other than César Ritz (yes, that Ritz.). Through the years, the property has maintained its undeniably majestic feel: as soon as you pass through the high arches of its light yellow facade, marble floors stretch out before you, and the ceiling soars above in a connecting series of arches and stained glass windows that hold the five-meter hand-blown glass chandelier in place. The 161 guest rooms and suits wear a rather contemporary feel while proudly looking back at its long standing legacy: high-ceilinged and light-filled, handmade glass and collectible curios, and handpicked neoclassical art and Italian fabrics. In addition to the smartly dressed staff that’s forever present (but only when you need them), there's a dedicated white-glove butler assigned to assist guests staying in the 23 suites, including the exclusive Bottega Veneta-designed suite. Off the lobby, the hotel’s main restaurant serves the flavors of the Mediterranean in its dining room inspired after both modern and belle-époque taste.

You're here because

The hotel is a study in classic and contemporary opulence. The traditional Roman grandeur and white glove service of the St. Regis collection mixes perfectly with the modernized furnishings and artwork. When in Rome, do as the glamorous Romans do.

The Moment

Resting for a moment upon one of the Art Deco furnishings in the lobby, you stop to take in the movie-set glamour of the room. Marble gleams around you, Murano chandeliers sparkle in the afternoon light, impeccably tailored locals come and go from the bar, but it’s the vaulted stained glass skylight, its gilded framing dazzlingly brilliant, that captures your gaze.

Location

The hotel is in one of the busier neighborhoods overlooking Piazza della Repubblica. Rome’s most famous and favored sights are less than a half hour’s walk from the front doors of the hotel: the Baths of Diocletian are just three minutes away; Michelangelo's Campidoglio, the Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum are all under 25 minutes by foot. It’s just over a half hour’s drive from Rome’s international airport.
