Il Salviatino
Hilltop Villa Overlooking Florence
What it is
An elegantly renovated 15th-century villa in Firenze, 10 minutes driving distance to the city center.
What it isn't
A hassle to get in and out of town: The hotel runs a shuttle service and can arrange private cars.
What we think
Il Salviatino bridges the urban bustle of Florence and the tranquillity of the Tuscan countryside. A superbly restored villa with frescoed ceilings and manicured gardens, it lures guests out of town with its spa, outdoor pools and restaurant serving produce grown on the premises and own organic garden. Rooms are elegantly decorated in Renaissance style, with antique rugs, a mix of modern and classic furniture, oil paintings and the occasional coloured marble column. Palettes are warm and brown, relying on deep varnish and beige walls to soak up the Italian sun. Be sure to book a room with a view of the Duomo (not all of them have one) or stay detached from the main building in the antique lemon house where 6 brand new Greenhouse Suites are located.
You're here because
Florence is fun for the day, but why linger in the loud streets when you could admire Brunelleschi’s handiwork from afar with a glass of Brunello?
The Moment
Fresh Tuscan air rejuvenates you as you step out of the hotel shuttle after a long day’s touring. You can see the heat rays rising from the city in the distance—which reminds you that the cool hillside pool is waiting.
Restaurants & Bars
Giacomo al Salviatino - The cuisine of Giacomo al Salviatino is focused on authentic Italian tradition, offering a menu that combines simplicity and refinement, using aromatic herbs, vegetables from the hotel’s organic garden and a careful selection of local raw materials.
