Kopaonik, Serbia
Viceroy Kopaonik Serbia
Modern Marvel
What it is
A sleek 119-room mountaintop resort right on the ski lifts, with a hammam-stocked spa, two pools, and four restaurants and bars stocked with ski bunnies of every stripe.
What it isn't
Poorly serviced. The concierge is tireless, and on duty 24 hours a day to attend to your whims; the hotel also has ski concierges, heated underground valet parking, and more.
What we think
Serbia doesn’t get quite the worldwide acclaim of St. Moritz…but it should. Mountain activities are bottomless here, and, depending on the season, might include off-piste skiing; kayaking past 12th century riverside monasteries; cross-country skiing through powdery trails; half-day snowmobiling adventures; bobsledding; and hiking the verdant Kapaonik National Park. Thanks to Viceroy, the hotel experiences on par with St. Moritz, too….with luxe guest rooms fitted with everything the glitterati require, including 300 thread count bed linens, Nespresso machines, blackout curtains, a spa-like bathroom with a rainshower, and interior design that looks torn from the pages of Elle Decor: Serbia. Rooms start at 377 square feet plus balconies; to sprawl out even further, we love the Kopaonik Suite for its 538 square foot floor plan and separate living space…perfect for a rakija cocktail hour.
You're here because
You’re bringing your Mini Me, and their kids program is topnotch: complete with a V Team Kids Club where littles can, say, make art out of dried local flowers; clean up the surrounding woodlands; take yoga classes; and more.
The Moment
Stars glow in the ceiling above the indoor pool of The Spa by Viceroy…but that’s not your only otherworldly experience. Your Gold Glow massage—complete with 24K massage oil—is sending you into outer orbit.
