Ljubljana, Slovenia
InterContinental Ljubljana
Sleek skyscraper
What it is
A minimalist high-rise with an 18-th floor pool and spa and three sceney watering holes.
What it isn't
Hands off. Expect welcoming staffers, from the private limousine driver to the housekeeping turndown service.
What we think
If Slovenia ever had a reputation for being mired in its past, InterContinental turns that idea on its head. The hotel is as glossy and streamlined as any you’d find in Tokyo; guest rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and Mid Century-inspired furniture in a cool palette of grays and autumn ochres. If you like to spread out, it can be well-worth booking the Presidential Suite, which has a flickering fireplace and a 19th-floor panorama over the cityscape, plus free-reign over Club InterContinental—where guests will find comped breakfast, cocktail hour nibbles and tipples, and myriad other snacks and drinks all day long. Proof the place has good service: thousands and thousands of five-star Google reviews.
You're here because
The shimmering tile-lined zero-edge pool has nearly floor-to-ceiling windows that peep out on the Alps from the 18th-floor, and looks like something from “Lost in Translation” goes to Slovenia...
