Almanac Barcelona

Design-Forward Delight

What it is

An artful 91-room stunner with a Michelin-starred chef, dreamy rooftop bar and pool, plus exquisite spa treatments (and a steam room and sauna).

What it isn't

Stale. The Almanac enlisted Master Parfumier Jimmy Boyd to create a bespoke scent for the hotel, redolent of the Meediterranean sea and citrus groves.

What we think

Award winning Barcelona designer Jaime Beriestain has no shortage of aesthetic accolades, but his work at The Almanac may be his best yet. Here, room interiors are the epitome of good (and timeless) taste, with oak and walnut finishes, custom beds, sculptural light fixtures, bathrooms lined in Ibizan marble, and standalone rainfall showers that are like your own personal spa (ooh la la). To truly spread out, we recommend booking a Terrace Suite (starting at 700 square feet), which have, yes, private terraces, plus separate living spaces and, in some, deep soaking tubs to soak the day away. Not that you’ll need that, in this town.

You're here because

The rooftop bar is as sceney as they get, with a postcard-worthy panorama over the cityscape. Did we mention the tapas menu includes tomato and olive oil bread and local cheeses?

The Moment

With Michelin-starred chef Rodrigo de la Calle helming the hotel’s new largely plant-based VIRENS restaurant, you knew it would be good. But did you ever imagine an avocado and green tea souffle could send you into outer orbit? Not until now.
