Tibidabo Hill, Barcelona

Gran Hotel La Florida

Hilltop Hideaway

What it is

Twenties resort with Barcelona’s best views.

What it isn't

Quiet. This may be removed from the city center, but it’s totally hopping.

What we think

If you’ve ever fantasized about living in a castle set high above the hoi polloi, check in to Gran Hotel La Florida for a taste. Designed in 1924 by architect Ramon Raventos (who also masterminded the city’s Venetian Towers), and later used as a military hospital, the hotel was resuscitated as a luxury destination in the 1950s. Today it’s one of the city’s finest, and not called an “urban resort” for nothing: There’s a 37-meter stainless steel indoor/outdoor pool and a L’Occitane spa that Provence itself would envy. The 70 Art Nouveau–inspired guest rooms in neutral tones provide a hushed respite from a day of touring.

You're here because

As much as you love the rumble of the Ramblas, you prefer spending your evenings in quieter climes.

The Moment

Reclining in your sun-swathed daybed adjacent to the rooftop infinity pool is fun—but sipping a Hemingway Daiquiri as a live band makes the fresh air effervescent is something you’ll never forget.

Restaurants & Bars

Barcelonas Restaurant - A stunning catalan gastronomic experience

Cafe 1925 - All day dining overlooking the Barcelona skyline

Location

Atop 1,640-foot-high Tibidabo Hill. You can see the Mediterranean shimmering in the distance—yet the center of town is just 20 minutes by car.
